Time to Buy...
Your new Migratory Bird Hunting and Conservation Stamp, commonly known as the “Duck Stamp”!
The 2012-2013 Stamp shows the ever popular male Wood Duck, painted by Joe Hautman. His art also graced the federal stamp three other times – 1991, 2001, and 2007.
Joe can paint!
The proceeds from Stamp sales are dedicated to land preservation – wetland and grassland – in our Refuge System. Since the 1930s, Stamps have contributed over $750 million and protected 5.3 million acres of habitat for wildlife and future generations. The Stamp itself functions as a federal license to hunt waterfowl for anyone over the age of 16.
The Stamp also has the added bonus of giving you free entry to any National Wildlife Refuge! So you can do your own sort of bird hunting...
Check out your local post office for the newest stamp offering and be sure to spread the word about the Stamp to your birding friends. It would be a wonderful thing if the Stamp was viewed as a birding license and all birders supported giving back.
Yes, a most wonderful thing...
