We don't care what the calendar says

It feels like spring is here at last! Temps are near 60 degrees, geese are honking high overhead as they make their way north, and some of our birding colleagues have seen their first Osprey, fresh arrived from South America, Wahoo!!

As you can see above, the first small flowers have begun blooming, now that they are not buried under snow and ice.

Lisa's bees came out for the first time on Sunday. Sadly, two of her three hives, Hera and Iris, did not make it through the harsh winter. But Artemis is looking real strong! Go girl!

You go too, Mr. Snow. Bye-bye now.

I can see you are sure glad to see the snow departing and the hope for all that is to arrive. Have fun. FAB.

All that snow and so little still to show for it! Still 18" in most of my yard - practically solid as well - no flowers yet, and it appears that our bees did not survive the winter. Hopefully we'll get the honey before the neighborhood bear, but not til we're back from Trinidad. But isn't spring wonderful - much better after a real winter.

Chris -- so sorry to hear about your bees - I don't know about you, but I go into mourning whenever I lose a hive.
